Br. Jonah Teller, O.P., is a Dominican friar from the Dominican House of Studies in Washington, DC. He has been assigned to St. Mary's for the 2015-2016 school year to assist us in our ministry. Below is a short autobiography written by Br. Jonah. If you see him at the parish, be sure to say hello!
The second of seven children, I grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio. I attended the University of Dallas, graduating with a B.A. in English. Before entering the Order of Preachers, I worked a variety of jobs, ranging from short-order cook to oil field worker to literature teacher. What drew me to the Dominicans in particular was how the way of life that the friars lead corresponded to the the desires of my own heart in a way that was different from all the other things I had done previously: they combined a seriousness for life with a profound joy rooted in the Gospel in a way that was very attractive to me. I entered the Order in 2013.
