What is a student leader?
Student Leaders are teens interested in having more say in what happens in youth group.
What do they do?
We meet as a group once a month. We spend half the meeting talking about what’s coming up, giving feedback and ideas, letting me (the youth minister) know things you’d like to do or try in youth group. The other half of the meeting we hang out, play games, eat, relax. We also read a very short book over the year about Christian Leadership, discuss it, and help one another build those skills.
At regular youth group events you help lead games, set up and clean up, and like a host help other teens that come feel welcome and included. You attend and participate in as many of the hsyg activities as your schedule allows. No one can make it to everything. That’s ok; it’s not expected.
It's a great opportunity to grow and mature in your faith, help learn how to share your faith, develop and/or improve Christian leadership skills, and not to mention it looks great on a college resume! I have yet to have had a student leader that hasn't enjoyed it!
Who is eligible?
Any teens currently in high school for the 2012-2013 school year. 9th-12th grade, private school, public school, or homeschool! Prior leadership experience is not necessary. Pick up an application and fill it out today! Don’t freak out- there are no “right” answers for the application. It just helps me know where you are at in your faith and tells me a little more about you.
