In this month of October dedicated to Our Blessed Mother and the holy rosary, keep up your prayers for all those effected by the pandemic. The affirmed, the souls who have succumbed to the virus, the loved ones left behind, our country's leaders, the medical community caring for the sick and researching for a vaccine, small business owners, the unemployed and under employed,our educators who have layers of challenges to teach our children. Through our Blessed Mother's intercession may those in need be offered care, comfort or relief.
In this Sunday's bulletin, our reflections on Forming Consciences for Faithful Citizenship conclude with a feature article on 10 policy goals that will guide Catholics as we form our consciences and reflect on the moral dimensions of our public choices in the upcoming Presidential Election.
A reminder that Marylanders seeking to vote in the Presidential Election must be registered no later than this Tuesday, October 13. If you plan to vote by mail, your request must be received by the Board of Elections no later than Tuesday, October 20.
As you ready your closets for the Fall and Winter, please consider donating items you no longer need. The St. Mary’s Scouts will collect gently used clothing and home goods for the Interfaith Clothing Center
next weekend. The Scouts will be in parking lot during the Saturday 5 PM Mass on October 17 and the three morning Masses on Sunday, October 18. Please look for the Scouts and their U-Haul in the church parking lot next weekend.
In observance of the Columbus Day holiday, the Parish Office will be closed on Monday, October 12. We will still celebrate the 7 AM and 12:10 PM Masses in the Main Church.
As we celebrate this Columbus Day Weekend, we thank all of the parishioners who are members of the Knights of Columbus. We especially pay tribute to the Knights and Ladies of our local Montgomery Council 2323; who have provided service to the Church and support to St. Mary's for nearly 100 years. Confessionswill be offered Saturday, October 10, 1 pm (2 priests) and Wednesday, October 14, 5 pm (1 priest) in the Main Church.
Pre-recorded Sunday Mass is available on Saturdays at 5:00 pm on our parish's Facebook page, (@stmarysrockville), Twitter feed, (@stmaryrockville) and YouTube channel. When participating in the Mass, remember to fast as you would do when attending church in person and pray a spiritual communion prayer as Father Fields is receiving Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament in the liturgy.
It is not too late to join our CCD Classes!Religious education classes are now meeting by Zoom video calls for children from 1st grade - High School, including for our 2 year Sacrament preparation programs. All students in 1st grade and older are invited to our First Communion preparation classes, and all students from 7th grade through high school are invited to our Confirmation preparation classes. St. Mary's Online Youth Group, Sunday, October 11th, 7 pm: All high school students are invited to join us as our online small group meets by Zoom video call! We hope your teens can join us for games, Bible study, and community with other Catholic teens at St. Mary's. For the meeting link and permission form, please e-mail [email protected]. Youth group will meet online every other Sunday at 7 pm, also scheduled to meet on October 25th and November 8th.
Confirmation Candidate Fall Retreat, Sunday, October 18th: All teen candidates to receive Confirmation this upcoming Spring will be attending a mini-retreat to pray and reflect as they prepare for Confirmation!
