All 6th-8th grade St. Mary's and other private school students, public school students, and home schooled students are invited to join us for our monthly middle school youth group! This month we are taking a look at Lent. This is a mini-version of the several week study that the high schoolers are doing. It is geared at giving the middle schoolers an idea of the history, why, and how of the practices of Lent: prayer, fasting, and alms giving.
Middle School Youth Group is one of the many ministries offered at St. Mary’s. It is geared at helping 6th-8th graders develop faith, feel like part of the church community, meet their peers, learn more about the church's teachings, and instill in them a desire to remain part of the church life after confirmation. It is not another traditional classroom setting. It is not a substitute for religion class, sacramental preparation, or the parental responsibility of catechesis. Rather it is meant to enhance and support what is being taught at home and here at St. Mary’s.
