CONGRATULATIONS TO GOLDEN APPLE AWARD WINNER MRS. KELLY SWEET!
St. Mary's School is so proud of our very own Mrs. Kelly Sweet, who was named a 2020 Golden Apple Award Winner for Excellence in Teaching! Mrs. Sweet has taught Kindergarten at the School since 2001.
In nominating Mrs. Sweet, Msgr. Amey remarked: "Kelly is a tremendous asset to our parish community. She works in the School, the CCD program, and in the parish. Most importantly, she is an excellent instructor and resource for other teachers. Kelly works every day to make our parish better - from our youngest preschool students to our adults."
We thank the Archdiocese of Washington Catholic Schools Office for this Golden Apple award recognition. Catholic school teachers are so essential during this time and we are humbled to have Mrs. Sweet showing great leadership in our parish community.
UPDATE ON PUBLIC MASSES
On Thursday, May 14, the Archdiocese of Washington informed all parishes that the restriction on not holding public Masses is still in place until further notice. This includes all parishes in Montgomery County, Prince George's County, Charles County, Calvert County, St. Mary's County, and the District of Columbia. The Archdiocese will offer a plan for parishes for when we can resume public Masses and to do so in an orderly, safe, and well-communicated manner.
Back in March, when the State of Maryland Stay at Home Order was announced, we never dreamed how our lives would be different moving forward. We pray you have developed a daily regime of prayer with your family. Perhaps this would include saying the rosary together, possibly watching a daily and/or Sunday Mass at one of the multitude of options available and maybe adding a book of spiritual reading in your time at home. Stay strong in your prayer life and in your faith in the Eucharist. As much as you would like to receive our Lord, your priests would like to offer Him to you. We pray for your intentions everyday.
