Sacramental Preparations (RCIA) for Teenagers
Our RCIA for Teens class is an adaptation after the RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults). This class is for three groups of teens:
1. Those who have not yet been baptized;
2. Those who were baptized in a non-Catholic Christian community but would now like to become Catholic;
3. Those who were baptized Catholic but have not yet received the sacraments of First Communion and/or Confirmation.
If you have a child in 8th through 12th grade who falls into one of these categories, please contact Lacy Prebula, Director of Religious Education, to register for the RCIA for Teens program.
The class meets on Sunday evenings from 6:00 to 8:30 pm, at the same time as the parish youth group meetings. The students in the RCIA for Teens class join the youth group for dinner and opening prayers and then separate from the group for their class. At the end of the evening, they rejoin the youth group for closing prayer and games. The RCIA for Teens program is a year and a half long. For example, teens who begin the program in September of 2015 will receive the Sacraments of the Church in the spring of 2017.
Teens in their second year of the program will receive the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and/or Eucharist the Easter Vgil Mass, the first Mass of Easter, which is celebrated on the Saturday night before Easter Sunday.
Please be in touch with Lacy Prebula if you have any questions.
